These exercises must be done individually and may not be shared with anyone until class time. Answer and submit all exercises by 10pm the night before class. You must answer all of the questions below. You must place your name, student number, and the module number at the top of your submission. See instructions further below.
Case Study #1: Muskrat Pool & Spa Company (Muskrat)
Use the Muskrat DiscussionBoard forum to obtain any information about the case that you do not have to answer the questions.
- List any tangible benefits from operating system envisioned for Muskrat. Determine or estimate what each benefit is worth.
- List any intangible benefits from operating the system envisioned for Muskrat.
- List any one-time development costs for building the system envisioned for Muskrat. Determine or estimate how much each cost would be.
- List any on-going/recurring costs for operating the system envisioned for Muskrat. Determine or estimate how much each cost would be per month.
- Based on your answers to questions 1, 3, and 4, perform a break-even analysis for the system envisioned for Muskrat.
- How long would it take to develop the system envisioned for Muskrat and place it into operation? Based on the development time and the benefits and costs identified in questions 1, 3, and 4, determine the payback period for the envisioned system for Muskrat. Is the payback period acceptable?
- Based on the previous answers, perform a Net-Present Value analysis for the system envisioned for Muskrat.
- Update your group’s Muskrat Open Items List with new unknowns that need to be determined for Muskrat and ideas for appropriate requirements elicitation techniques to use to find out. Provide a copy of the updated list.
